I wa wondering what many of other bowhunters are thinking about the job our wildlife deparment is doing with Ky. resources (both good and bad). I am also concerned about the growing influx of politicts on decision making of running our wildlife management areas. I for one think that the operation of these areas should be left to the trained wildlife personal with a little in put from the licenes buying sportsman.
Things like these that arise from time are the one of the big reasons that that all sportsmans should belong to some organitions with in our state that monitor and protect our intrest in manageing the resources in our state.
What do you think??????????

Shaggy, I think the state guys are doing a good job! ;) I know there's always politics involved but at least Roy is on our side! I think Jon Gassett is doing a super job w/ putting QDM restrictions on our WMA's - only problem with that is in 5 yrs our WMA's will probably be over crowded with non-residents and nearby land will go to leases. I'm fortunate enough right now to hunt several farms without having to pay for a lease smile.gif Hey will you or Ralph be heading to the Bucks and Beards show in Lexington this July? If so let me know so we can hook up and get a bite and shoot the breeze.

Shaggy:
And unfortunate fact of life is that all Divisions of Wildlife will be "political" as long as taxpayers money is used to fund them. A few states, North Dakota comes to mind, finally had enough and went "public" without taxpayer's dollars and funded their division with license money and the selling of magazine subscriptions and gifts for the sportsmen. Sure, they had to cut their department size in half and it was a real struggle but you get much better management and the entire department listens to the hunter and fishermen who pay their way exclusively.

With the above prediction, perhaps buying some property adjacent to a WMA would be a good bet?
Better get ready with what Illinois has just done with the drawing hunts. I don't know of a single NC hunter that got drawn. Something don't smell just right on that one.
Also Illinois will severely limit the nonres permits issued statewide in the future so get ready Ky, you will surely be getting company soon.
