I have noticed some of the hogs down here are full of long, kind of shaggy thick hair, while others have shorter hair and not so thick. The black hogs seem to have less hair then the red's and muli-colored?????
Can anyone tell me why?

FD I don't know anything about pigs but this same thing occurs in the cattle I raise. Some will have long thick hair while others will have short curly hair. I think it's probably a genetic issue in the breeding process depending on the coats of the sow and boar.

I was going to say the same thing. In the cattle we had the hair on them varied a lot. But this is a interesting fact, the cattle we kept for slaughter we made sure the hair on the forehead was longer and curly. They always ate much much better, do not ask me why. If the hair was thin and straight they were sold for $$$$$

JEP, not yet. graemlins/cry2.gif I have been leaving the area alone to keep the smell out of the woods. Plus it has been so dang hot I'm thinking the boars are holed up.
If the Queen of my castle makes it home from her all day shopping trip, I may try to sneak out there this afternoon??? But I am not counting on it... She has a full book of checks and plastic in tow just incase. I may not see her for days? LOL
As for a hog hunt... If this place we are trying out at the end of the month works out, I'm hoping to get a group together for next winter. So sneak a little money from the wifes purse here and there and you'll have enough before ya know it. If you end up a little short, I may be in the position to help out... It looks like 04 is gonna be a banner year. We are sold out through Feb of "05"!!! graemlins/thumbsup2.gif
