View Full Version : Anti-hunters among us

Like many of you, I recently reserved a campsite thru 'reserve america' and I recently received an email survey about their services. I would post it here but oddly, today the survey is closed.

Anyway, looking thru their survey I could not find the word hunting anywhere on it. They listed numerous outdoor activities related to camping, hiking, etc. Just about everything under the sun was mentioned except hunting.

The only possible way for me to respond accurately was to choose the activity labeled 'other'. Since every possible activity was named, I assumed hunting is the only possible reason for the 'other' category. graemlins/icon_smile_disapprove.gif

Well, I responded in the comments area with my displeasure that they had purposely left hunting off their activities list so as to create this unspoken blanket of unacceptability to hunting.

Since my hasty reply to them I have given it more thought and decided to bring it up here among my internet friends.

This reserve america company apparently has a contract (read monopoly) with the government for reserving campsites and cabins all over our country. It doesn't take much looking and figuring to see this company is making a healthy profit off of our unmentionable activities and running the price of camping up in the process. graemlins/cussing1.gif

here is a link to the ones that seem to want to rob our children of their hunting heritages.

How do you feel about this and are you interested in working together as a force to try and change this snobbish crap? graemlins/patriot3.gif

I agree with you Boman and think a letter writing campaign is in order.

Here is there e-mail address.

campingtip@reserveamerica.com

I passed this post along to several others who are sick of the political correctness of companies like this who fail to mention not only hunting but trapping in their advertisiments.

whoa!!!

wait a bit. I think if we want to just make ourselves feel better we can email like hell.

On the other hand, if we want to actually effect a change and see some kind of results, perhaps we should research the enemy closely and devise a plan of attack that will prove effective to our goals of regaining hunting as an recognised, acceptable and popular sport amoung young Americans.

I believe we shouldn't tip our hat until we have all the marbles in it.

First I want to check this company out and see who they've been giving money to, if that's possible. See if we can find some dirt and post it back here.

email is lightweight stuff.
Formal letters of notice pack more punch
but the handwritten letter is regarded as the real heavyweight of public opinion by college educated executives that control and run these companies.

I have done quite a bit of personal research and observation in this area and consider this a very important possible opprotunity to bring our hunting heritage out of the closet and back in the publicly acceptable status we once enjoyed.

Let's not blow it by acting in haste. An organized plan may be effective here.

We need info on the company. If we can find a seam that allows us to drive a wedge between them and the money, a powerful lever is created that will create change. How much change is basicly up to those college guys. smile.gif

One of our best ways to fight this kind of garbage is to do our homework and work together with politicians who are truly concerned about sportsmen to make a difference and give us some say. I think that eventually all these peta freaks will try to buy hunting permits to keep hunters from getting to go on special permit hunts.

Has anyone else been spammed by this Reserve America? I just got one, and I have never been to their site! Are they stealing e-mail address from this forum?
