As you can see from the shot, it was far from perfect. Luckily, I Andries (the PH, pictured on right) had his jack russell terrier with and that thing loves to track. The dog took off after the wildebeast and caught up to him. After a couple hundred yard sprint I was able to get a second shot in the animal. I aimed in front of the shoulder, for the base of the neck and hit him good. It was a pretty exciting couple minutes getting this beast http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid136/p67a07dffa4369753a1a7e79245bbb579/f750188e.jpg .

James, isn't that Sis Cow from the Uncle Remus stories? :D :D
Nice looking critter. I've never been in Africa but I'd sure like to give it a shot. I don't know where I'd hang the heads, though. I'm short of wall space.

Dick, the motto I used while I was there was "shoot first, ask questions later". I've got five mounts coming home. Three shoulder mounts, two full mounts.

Yes, I did have to gut that thing. But it wasn't that bad....OK it was pretty bad. But we just winched it up and gutted it in a skinning shed. So we had running water and stuff to work with.
