What kinda of grip do you prefer on your bow? I like wood grips, I think they fit better and don't seem to get as cold when it gets chilly outside :D

Anyone ever created a custom grip for your bow?

Wood, it looks better to boot! I covered the exposed rise section of my grip with the fleece used to deaden the shelf, and it helped with the cold considerably

I like a very thin grip...I took the grip off my MQ1 and put a Q2 pro grip on in it's place...I really like the grip on the new 2002Hoyt Cybertech....It is thin metal riser w/a light pad on the front w/small wood discs on the sides the size of quarters...I think this will be this bow come next season..The ablolute smoothest shooting bow I have ever shot !!!!! ))---> Mike

Wood. Defenitley. Warmer, and like said before, it looks good also.

I usually take the grip off of my bows before i do anything else. For me it feels more comfortable, as I dont like a thick handle anyway. Its a little cold in the winter, but thats what gloves are for!! :D

My Browning bow has a factory rubber type grip with wood inserts. No problems with it getting cold ,heck it was 75 here yesterday. However it does just the opposite and gets hard to hold onto when your hand sweats.

When I got my new bow I had to get used to the wood (had been using plastic). I won't ever go back!

I suppose by the way everyone is talking I should switch. I have rubber grips on my Hoyt. On my last bow, an old PSE, the grip was built into the riser, aluminum. That was a cold bow. You couldn't hold it real long when it was cold. I thought I was in heaven with rubber. Maybe next year I'll change to wood. We'll see.

I like a thin wooden grip. The old bare metal riser on my Whitetail hunter would suck the heat outta my hand faster than you can say frost-bite  Also, I shoot with a high-wrist & very open grip, but usually lightly hold the bow with my thumb and first finger. With a small grip I can close my thumb and finger into a "O" around the grip without really grabbing the bow tightly. This grip and hand wrist position has REALLY helped my accuracy.
