We have until January 21st here in KY. That buck I saw today is making me want to brave the January cold. So far no deer killed for me. But I have passed on several does and 2 small bucks, one with a bow and one with a rifle.

As Bill said in KY we have till Jan. 21.
Have taken a 5x7 elk. Have passed on a dozen or more does and 6 bucks. We are allowed as many does as we want but with all the elk meat I really didn't need any extra meat. We are only allowed one buck so I'm holding out for the one I want or I'll have tag soup with my elk steaks ;) I plan on heading over to a buddy of mines farm to help him with his deer population. I like cold weather and enjoy hunting in it.

I agree Dan, cold weather makes them get up to feed. They have to feed to keep warm. I believe this is do to their digestion producing heat. Besides, its not that easy to fall asleep when your freezing your tail off. Cant wait till Jan 1st to get back out for another 30 days.

I got a plesent supprise I thought the Ky. bow season went out the 15th of Jan., I have more time than I thought. I was not as lucky as Dan,I had to fill my freezer with deer. I have taken one doe with my bow but have not had a good buck near enough to shoot at. I, like Dan will hold the buck tag and trash it if I don't get that right one under my stand. We have many real good bucks on the plant propetry where I hunt. Hunting partners on stands not a 100 yds. from me have seen some monsters. The only big buck I have seen this season was at least 80 yds. chaseing a doe at full stride. That is a enough of my whineing I have had plenty shots at turkey this fall and still none in the freezer but if all the arrows I planted come up this summer I won't need to call Cabela's.

Dan, Rev
I understand those buck tags taste a lot better with cajun seasoning! I left mine in Frankfort this year in hopes of spending more time behind the Brittany, and then we have all this mild weather! Too hot to run a dog in my idea. "the best laid plans, etc...."

I only have buck tag soup with my bow! That ugly deer I got with the shotgun saved me from a double helping! I still have January. The pickings will be slim, but if I can pull it off then, it will truly be a trophy. All the gun seasons will have gone through, all the woods would have been trampled. It gets real hard to find a big boy. We'll see, the harder it is the more I feel accomplished when it all comes together.
