Nice deer is'nt it.
I seen it in the Deer and Deer Hunting magazine when it was first out.

What do you think about it. Real or not.

The guy is so eccentric I don't know what to believe. My instinct though is that was done a dirty deal and couldn't handle the pressure.

Doesnt really matter if its real or not he wont let anyone inspect it . Personally I have never seen a buck with a antler configuration that looked like that. The droopy ears the extra wide skull, ect make it look abnormal but then again a buck that big is abnormal.Seems he would have fallen victim to a death blow in a tussle with a large buck with a typical inside spread. He has no defense , just look at those pip squeek browtines.

I read both of the articles and have to say if someone were spouting accussations, lawsuits ect at me I would produce the buck for inspection unless I was in fear of being proven a liar.Just seems to fishy to me, a bad taste for the official scoring clubs wouldnt make the most determined man give up the cash the position and the pure braqggin rights of a true world record. On the contrary he would assume the #1 spot and tell em all to catch up.

Noticed something the other day on that deer guys. Check out the burr distance between the beams. Now go look at some other monster deer. In the book Legendary Whitetails, Dick Idol said the biggest burr distance he ever measured was 3.5 inches. That was on a deer from Illinois killed by a car. It weighed over 300 pounds, had a 30 inch spread, and 30 inch main beams. Bottom line is the guy has a free ride with this deer if it is real, and he has turned it down. Sounds real fishy to me. I don't care who you are, no one is going to turn down 100 grand a year (minimum) in endorsments because the have issues with Boone and Crockett and Pope and Young. Heck, one guy even offered 10 grand to have the deer x-rayed. Why give all that up if you had a genuine deer? Doesn't add up.

I have to agree here. I dont know too much on the logistics side, the guy that wrote the article seems to have covered all that. Sounds like he knows what he is talking about and covered all his basis. Just the fact that all this buzz is going around and this guy wont step up to the plate is real fishy. I would have it xrayed and say thank you for the 20 grand, next. The arguement about the trophy deer in the area is a good one. how all of a sudden does a deer with that measurement pop up when the closest one to it is only 170 inches from that state? Genes just dont pop up like that. He wouldnt be hiding if it was legit. I know I wouldnt. Right now I would be kicked back in some hunting resort on a free ride with alot of new stuff! :D

In the beginning I was all for the guy but after studying the issue and studying it some more...

I have come to the OPINION that the deer is a fake and the person is a wanttabe trophy hunter and is dishonest and also is seriously lacking in fundamental respect for our sport and us.

As far as I am concerned, he is an outcast.

You know the old saying, if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck its probably a duck!

I agree this guy has done a great disservice to the deer hunting world as a whole. At this point whether it is a true # 1 trophy or not is a mute point. Indeed if it were it would be wonderfull to bump the odds a bit but his arrogance, lack of tact in handling the ordeal, and failure to have a spine have made a mockery of us as hunters and the hunting community as a whole.I havent seen it yet but what will we look like when 60 minutes gets ahold of this??

Whats up with that hat??????? Again I'll point out those floppy ears on that deer, Ive killed a mess of whitetails in fact Id dare say twice as many as that guy will ever take and not once have I seen a deer with droopy ears that bad.Couldnt have been like the article suggested, a poor job attaching the fake horns and sewing of the cape?a too wide bur distance that forced those ears lower than they should be like the article and ALan suggested.
