Great job Spur! I am having a tough time getting on gobbling birds. I have been in some prime territory and have not heard a good gobbling bird yet. Couple of gobbles on the roost and that is it for the day. Maybe my timing will be better nest week. I ahve a bird that will score about 55 pts but I hope to kill a better one before it is all over.

Thought I had a dandy to add but I got short changed when I rolled him over for a look.

MO eastern
11.75" beard
17.5#
L spur 0"
R spur 0"

They weren't broke thatey never grew!!!!!!! Big old bird that has been breeding hard. With 1.25" spurs he would have scored 66 but instaed
41!!!!!!
That will be all I'll be adding to the total. I'm not gonna make it to KS this weekend.

I killed one earlier this year that didnt have any spurs..... It had a nine inch beard , full tail and slick legs. no nubs or buttons at all,,,, nothing.

I still ate him, however.

This old bird was even tough to skin. It was hard to get the skin seperated from the breast and legs but after I marinate him a bit and drop him in the hot oil he'll be tasty.

I killed a jake monday that had over 1/2 inch spurs on him. The biggest spurs I've seen on a jake. they were almost sharp. His tail feathers weren't even so I know it was a jake.

Way to tear them up Spur! you are doing as good as I am doing crappy. It is nice to hear that someone is getting on gobbling birds. I am going to give it one more day and then shut it down for the year.

Our season just started Sunday. I've been on some slammers every morning but haven't had any commit yet. They are henned up pretty good still. I have the next two days off work so hopefully I'll be posting one up here soon.
