How can I go out and scout the morning before season and have 9 toms hammering like there's no tomorrow and go out this morning and not hear a peep out of any bird? I mean, not one gobble was to be heard.
Talk about frustration... :cry1)
Oh well, there's always tomorrow!

what on earth are you doing home? if the toms arent going at it early, must be henned up. I'm not an expert but wont the hens go to their nest and lay their daily egg? that is the time the toms will out looking for any stray hens. i have taken all my birds after 9 am. some as late as 11:30. fact is the first year i just went out around 9 and most times got good action. i had vowed to keep turkey hunting simple, sleep in and go out late :). once i went before daylight though i was hooked on getting there early. go take another walk see if they are sounding off now.

Yep seems a bit early to be home to me as well, unless you only had time for a quickie! I was walking a road edge on Tuesday and busted a gobble out of one after 10 AM. They didn't gobble at all that morning, so he must have just been in the right mood when we got to him. Never did any good after his second gobble though, we are still trying to figure out what went wrong. :stars)

Mr. Maynard, I had the same experience although I did hear some distant gobbles. From the looks of the Kentucky board, several people had quite birds this morning.
