Ohio Youth Season

We are taking my daughter and nephew in the morning for the youth season. I roosted 3 birds but they are across the creek, have to do some good calling. I may have heard one or two on our side up the creek which would be perfect because where we are setting up is a well used strut zone.
My son is going with a friend of mine and they have 2 roosted together. He has an excellent chance with the set up they are using.

I went out this morning, but we didn't do any good. Headin down tomorrow for the Monday opener.

Heard at least 8 different birds gobbling on the roost in Ohio's youth season this morning ..Had a tom hang up on a brush pile and just gobble his head off for about 3 minutes... He had at least a dozen hens fly down with him in the next few minutes! In all my years of huning I've never seen as many hens as I've seen the last two days! We saw 15 to 20 hens both days of the youth season.

Once he had hen's,,, he never gobbled again! Matter a fact no turkeys gobbled more than a couple times after they hit the ground...

but all in all a beautiful morning,,, awesome sunrise and the glorious turkeys gobbling!
