My son shot a nice jake this morning during the youth hunt...14 lbs, 3/8 spurs and a 5 inch beard. I'll let him post the story if he wants.
My daughter didn't have any luck...everything was on the other side of the creek and would not cross. We'll try again tomorrow.

hey everybody, heres my story. my dads buddy and i were set up in a little feild in the middle of the woods to start out with. the jake only gobbled 3 times. twice on the roost and 1 once on the ground. we figured he would go to a feild to our left. we decided to go around him low through a bunch of thick brush. as we were going through the brush we saw him in the feild. he looked like a big boy and gobbled like a big one too. when we got to the other side of the feild he had already got there as well. i crawled up the field and peeked over the bank to see where he was. when i saw him, i got to where i could shoot him from my stomach. i shot him and he rolled over the hill. it was a total ambush!!!
