Has been pretty good hunting despite not having a bird on the ground the first few days. First morning I passed on a jake and a 2 year old that had a 6-7" beard. I was on turkey all day long. Day 2 I had my boys out and they both spoiled opportunities early. The 12 year old moved at the wrong time and got busted. My 9 year old had a bird behind us at 15 yards that double gobbled. He came un-glued and jerked around for a look. Busted, the bird took flight. We set up a few other times through out the day but competed with hens mostly. Day 3 I was guiding a fellow that, well missed. I think the antics of the gobbler had him shook up and took on a case of Elvis leg or something. Called in a few hens, but the big birds proved tough. Sunday afternoon had another guy that I called in a bird for that walked off because he thought the bird was out of range. I stepped it off at 37 yards. He had guessed 50+. Yesterday I called in 2 long beards at 7:30am. I decided I would double with the guy and he'd take the larger bird with me shooting after he shot. Well, minutes passed as the 2 birds stood at very close range. I kept waiting for his shot and a couple time whispered shoot, better shoot. The birds didn't see the hen that was calling to them and the walked over the hill. The guy had not chambered a shell!!!! Needless to say I was frustrated.

Good news is I have at least 17 different birds on this one lease and hunting should only get better. I have 2 other clients to guide and I can get back to hunting.

Here is a couple pics from the weekends hunt.

Wow lots of birds, but you need a little luck or help from your hunters!

Bill the call worked good .. I had lots of talk back this morning to the aluminum side ... I switch from this call to a titanium crystal and used your green wood stricker with the plastic coated tip... It sounded super on my crystal call.

Ended up killing a good one this morning!

God Bless,,,John Stahl.
