Has anyone ever tried putting out a flock of about 10 hen decoys at one time? I wonder if just the shear numbers would draw a tom away from his hens?

I know Shaggy has used several hens in his setups. Also know a guy that used 13 decoys while hunting LBL. Seemed he killed a long beard every year down there. Anything is worth a try IMO. I've used 4 before and had hens and jakes accept them, but have had a gobbler or two shy away. Anymore, unless hunting open areas, I don't use a decoy. I think hunting pressure has affected their worth.

I just think it's too much of a load for the places I hunt, but if you want to take the time to pack them in and set them up I'm sure they could be affective. The only problem is around here this time of year you don't really see that many hens together.

i think it's just to much work, if you have enough time, somtimes your better off just playing the waiting game, it is a tough sell, pulling one away from hens, especially when there all visable right there in front of him,
but i have killed quite a few longbeards, by pulling in the hens, who tend to be very gragarious, and just plain pulled a Tom Clear away from a hole flock of vocal hens, who know s what there thinking, obviously they like something your doing,
but having said that, i have failed way more times then succeed, so i guess a guy can pick his own poison,
