I've read a couple of stories lately about strutting hens. I've never seen it happen. Have any of you? Tell us about it?

I've seen it several times, but it's not a real full strut, most of the time it's like a half strut when the hens start fighting. It's pretty crazy to watch. I saw a hen fight a couple of weeks ago, all the hens go into what looks like a half strut and all start purring and then start fighting. IT drives the toms wild.

Ive gotten two on film this year. They wil be in the video were putting together. If you put your hen deke alone and in a sqautted position most all boss hen will display when approaching the deke. Its turkey body language. Just like the calls each gesture has its time and place. Dominant hens dont want nomadic competition from other hens and show local dominance by strutting and head color changes. Yep watch the head on those strutting hens it lighten up just like a toms..

While in Kentucky 2 weeks ago, I was in some cedars next to a logging road doing some soft blind calling. A big hen came in walking all around me. As I shutup to let her walk off, she began strutting! She'd blow up stick her head back into her body and move her tailfan from side to side exactly like a gobbler! I had never seen this before...Was neat to watch all this at 25 feet away! gobblr addict
