pulled in the drivway late afternoon yesteday, i had to take a double take on a bearded hen standing in the driveway, long pencil beard, she wasen't in much hurry, as i watched her waddle off, plump bugger, i had to wonder how many clutches she's pumped out, over the years!!!

Would you shoot his bearded hen if it was legal game or pass it because you knew it was a hen and could produce a clutch of poults?
any thoughts turkey hunters?

I would pass on a bearded hen. I've already seen about 4 this season. We got two on video together. One had a long beard for a hen, about 8 in or so.

I've only seen a couple of bearded hens, and never had one in gun range. I think I would have to pass on them.

Drop her like a sack of potatoes. I don't think taking a hen is going to hurt much. Seeing that in the fall most shot are hens or immatures. Besides she would look good mounted next my tom. :bigthumb)
Probably shoot her. Some argue that Bearded hens won't hatch many eggs. They are legal for a reason. The Dept. would protect them otherwise.

I'm old enough to remember when the fish and game departments said that bearded hens could not lay fertile eggs so they wanted them all shot before the genes spread. Therefore I've shot a few in my lifetime. Now they know that isn't true.
