NIIICE! Got any tips for a guy looking for a good osceola hunt? I'm planning on getting in the draw this year for some of their special hunts. If I don't get drawn then I'm heading after merriams next spring and the osceola the year after. They guided hunts are so expensive I'll need to save!

Best of luck to you guys and your slams.Osceolas were a pain in my butt and wallet.I went guided both years.
I got hooked up with a Kentucky boy named Tim Herald. He helped with what they called an Osceola turkey. It was 6 hunters and 6 guides. We all stayed in a Motel in Southern Florida.Everbody ate meals and swapped stories together.Met some pretty nice guys in school both hunters and guides. My guide was Ken Mayes the eldest of the bunch. He was great guy and let my wife tag along on my hunts to watch and learn. She was just getting started in turkey hunting at the time. She said she didn't want to spend that kind of money on her to hunt.I told Ken if one of the other guides came open she would really like to go hunt.I hunted 3 days no bird she hunted one day.She took the best bird of the group!
Went back to hunt with Ken this spring. He cleared out a spot for me but only if I brought my wife with me.They are fast friends now.I got my bird early in my hunt so he let Missy hunt for free. Not many guys would do that.
Anthony Brown was a guide at the school. We have stayed in touch by phone. He was a great guy to be around. He brought a couple of little bottles of Wild Turkey up to our room to toaste my wife's Gobbler. He said it was ole Kentuckey boy thing. It meant alot to Missy and I.
I would do it all again but I'm glad I don't have to!!!

Is this one of Tim's secret spots or is it possible to get some contact info on these fellas? Sounds like a bunch of good guys. What did it cost? Most of the 3 day hunts I've seen run from $1200-1500! I'd like to find an unguided deal for alot les, but if '07 rolls around and I don't have one I'll be looking at forking over the money for a guided hunt.

I've hunted with Tim a couple times and had great success. I did not hunt my Osceola where you talked about, but familiar with that operation. I hunted Rios' with Tim in 2003 and had a great hunt. Using his contacts in a couple weeks for my Merriam. IMHO, you can't go wrong with the hunts Tim consults for.
