Last saturday I headed to the forest to fill my last two whitetail tags, last half hour of shooting light I shot a pair of does. Two hundred and fifty yards, both were head shots. While I skinned them and waited for my hunting partner to bring the truck, I saw two men walking down the path, both were in worn and battered clothes. Upon closer inspection, it was a man and his twelve year old son. I kindly greeted them over. After we were talking for a bit, they said how much they wished that they had something for the freezer, they didn't see anything, and it was the last day. I decided that they needed this meat more than my family and I did, so, with some persuading, I convinced them to take the two deer. I have never seen a grown man choke up like that. He took me to the side and told me that he lost his job and his wife was expecting. He called me a guardian angel and thanked me over and over, he hasn't gotten much of a break lately and with Christmas on they way, well, it would be hard for his kids. You could not take the smile off of his son's face.
Sorry team, I did not get pictures for the contest, but hey, I think that they needed the deer more then we needed the points for the contest. :D
Merry Christmas.
