Wood ducks?

Anyone hunting the early wood duck season?

I'm just hoping they haven't already headed south. Places where I was seeing wood ducks a week ago are bereft of them now.

But...there seem to be a few ringnecks, greenwings, and pintails moving through, along with the local mallards.

I saw a couple of Woodies on Monday, in Midwestern Ohio. I dont know if they are still there or not.

I took the afternoon off from deer hunting and slipped down to the water hole this afternoon. I only shot one woody, but it could have been a masacre. I passed a ton of birds to wait and hunt Monday with my pop. I must of had 40 birds come through, in the last 20 minutes of the hunt. Here is the kicker, I didn't have a call or any decoys LOL. They just dropped in the hole on their own.
