Has anyone hunted ducks in Alaska? This year was a great year. We had serveral hundred birds come into our decs over the 2nd and 3rd weekends in October. I only wish I could hit the broad side of a barn. But seriouly, we had serveral days where we jumped 300 to 400 ducks. I am getting one of the greenheads I took this year mounted. I didnt realize just how expensive the tax work could be on them. well, just wanted to see if anyone has ever hunted Alaska water fowl.
Good hunting,
Jim

Never had the opportunity, but certainly have thought about it from time to time. Alaska has always intrigued me!

when I moved here several years back, I was surprised how good the duck hunting was. I think every hunter must visit Alaska once, It is just that amazing.

I hunted ducks in Alaska in September of 2000. It was an awesome experience. We shot many, many ducks. I thought there were a lot of waterfowl in the Dakota's, I think there was just as many up there. We floatplaned out of Soldatna across the Cook Inlet and stayed at a 'duck shack' on one of the 'guts' that flow into the Inlet. We were basically at the base of Mt. Redoubt. And the silver salmon were running up the guts at high tide, during low tide they could not go anywhere. We fished the Kenai River for two days and never caught a fish, we go duck hunting and we can pull them out of the water with our bare hands. Would very much like to go back for a caribou hunt in the near future. Saw a few bear tracks, more than big enough to put a chill down your neck.
