I cant find the magazine but it was in Sports afield. It appears PETA members went out and bought some hunting license so the would not be in violation of disrupting hunting. This is in Washington state. It went on to say that they went out and randomly fired shots to scare the ducks away. One of the members said," i didnt like the feeling of buying a license cause the people thought i would be out killing animals". The article said very clever, too bad they missed the migration of the ducks!

Well I wonder if they realize that they paid taxes supporting hunting when they got those licenses, guns and ammo? What a bunch of idiots. You know these guys are scare me. They are so bent on stopping something they know nothing about. Lets see, quick poll here:
Who here is a hunter for the sole purpose of killing animals?
My response first:
I hunt because I like to eat meat. I hunt because it teaches me good values in life. I hunt because I need to do my part to support wildlife, and keep a balance in nature. I realize there are many checks and balances in nature and I am part of that system. Some animals were meant to be hunted to feed others. As a result they reproduce faster to compensate. Take away the hunting and their quality of life declines. Anyone ever see a mountain lion drop litters of kittens like a doe deer drops fawns? I think not.

If God didn't want us to eat animals then why did he make them out of meat?
I seriously don't get these nuts...if you don't like hunting, don't go...please don't, it will leave more for me to hunt. History has some valuable lessons if people would get off their high horses and pay attention. For years (and some years ago), a lovable group of individuals called Greenpeace decided that the commercial seal fishery in Newfoundland was wrong. I will not argue that some of the techniques used were rather rough, but on the whole, it was considered to be an immoral slaughter which threatened extinction for the cute little devils (of course they didn't mention the cute little Newfoundland families who were starving without the surplus income). Many years later, the seal population in the Straight of Belle Isle is such that they destroy fishing gear and the catches therein. (Most fishermen I know kill seals on sight). Unchecked, natural populations expand too rapidly due to our impact on ecosystems, but unfortunately I don't see much likelihood in people moving back into caves and living off the land. Sure we're responsible for changing the land these animals inhabit, and as such we are left with the responsibility to maintain balances that ensure the optimum survival possibilities for these animals in these changed environments. I would be a hypocrite to say this is the reason I hunt. I love the challenge, I love the outdoors, and I love to eat copious amounts of red meat...me and Dennis Leary...the fact that I get to do my part in this form of management is all the perk I need to laugh in the face of those who spew their closed-minded ideologies.

Alan,
The taking of a game animal to me is anticlimatic. I don't equate success with it. Sharing the outdoors with my kids and now my grandchildren is what it's all about.
PETA, Greenpeace, Rosie and the rest of them mean well, it's just that they are terribly ignorant. We are fortunate to live in a country which protects our individual rights... even theirs to protest what we do.
Mark.

Good question Alan,
Wouldnt it be ironic if they shot all kinds of lead out there and end up poisoning ducks. There may be a a few years of guilt after that one!

Maybe we could get them to think it was a good idea to keep doing this and watch the organizatin go bankrupt buying non toxic shot LOL. Man that stuff is high!

It sure is! I once made a mistake of taking some bizmuth and tongsten (sp) out on opening day. It was supposed to be the 3rd shot in the chamber for the distance. Before I knew it I had shot $50 worth of shells in 20 minutes. I almost fell out of the boat!

I read an article in Field&Stream last month where a writer was suggesting a switch to gold as a non-toxic shot pellet. It was sarcastic, ofcourse, but not by much.

I saw that.... I thought it was pretty funny myself.... :D :D
Gee, this is the first time PETA can legitamately claim they have done some good for wild life. Buying firearms and Ammo, they contributed an 11% exise tax to the Pittman/Robertson fund. Buying a state small game license, which contributes to that particular state's wildlife department and buying a Federal duck stamp which contributes to wetlands habitat purchase. The bonus being, they are not shooting any ducks....more for me HEHEHEHEHE.
This another well thought out PETA plan (NOT) I hope they decide to continue it.
PETA laugh of the day: where I use to live there was a town named Fishkill (an old Dutch name) PETA lobbied to have this town's name changed to Fishlive....True story
From the Dutch vis meaning fish and kill meaning stream

Yellow? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Don't you just love going out just to shoot them up, as many as you can, forgetting about bag limits, for no reason other than being cruel to nature?
