Last year was a bust for the most part on duck hunting. Has anyone heard if this next year is suppose to be any better. Proably just an educated guess at most, I guess it cann't get any worse then this last year.

We had a great year up here and I can only hope it is as good or better! smile.gif The only problem is that a good year up here can sometimes make for a bad year down south. I am looking forward to it... good or bad.

There is rumor here in Ohio that the season is not going to be as long because the duck numbers are down. I don't know how much truth there is to this, but that is what I heard. I was out yesterday fishing at a state lake that I hunt and I sure know the goose numbers isn't down, man there is a bunch of them.

I don't think it could be worse here than last year...I think CG is right on his good year costing us.

Our winters are getting so much warmer that the waterfowl are just toughing it out up here for the winter. The ones that I watched over the winter had no problems at all with finding food and as word gets around more and more are staying. Past years a good year was 20+ birds for the season but last year my partner and I had bagged over a hundred birds in total.

I hope its not like last year! I think with the dry seasons we had last year it could be rough, however the mild winters should have been good nesting for the birds and mortality should have been down. We'll see. Does anyone know how the breeding grounds in the mid west were? How bout north?

I haven't been to the hunting holes yet but my golf course is showing record numbers in the salt water marshes. Looks like the ducks and geese are back and doing well. Off topic, but the ospreys are scarse this year and the bald eagles are everywhere. Just an observation.

Ive heard rumors that we will have a reduced season here next year and in a way, I hope we do.
60 days and 6 ducks just seems like a little too much to me.

I agree with archer1. The upcoming season can't be much worse than this season was. There was a very spotty bird concentration here. Plenty of tundra swans and snow geese, but very few migratory ducks. :(
