Has anyone seen the Ugly geese that seem to be hanging more and more with the Canadians? They are a tanish color with a white belly. Their bills are orange with a bump at the forhead. Their bodies are big and and thick. Not like the Cans streamline form. They seem to be running with the Cans around here pretty often. I also saw a couple of Canadians that looked as if they were crossbred with these other geese. Just wondering. The necks were real thick, and the body style was the same. They just had the same markings as the cans but not as distinct. ??? graemlins/icon_smile_question.gif graemlins/icon_smile_question.gif graemlins/icon_smile_question.gif

Rev,

I think those are some domesticated geese that have gone wild. The farmer next to my parents have geese that look like what you are describing. UGLY SUCKERS!! Not sure if they can interbreed with the Canadians, any thoughts on that from any of you armchair waterfowl biologists out there?

Thats exactly what they look like. You know the cartoon geese in the farm yards. I could sware they did breed with those Cans. They are with them everytime I see a bunch of Cans.

Without seeing them myself, I would have to agree that they are a domesticated goose gone wild. I am not sure if they can breed with the wild cans or not. Hopefully someone out there knows the answer. Any chance of getting a pic posted on here of them. Curiosity killed the longhonker

I was seeing some odd goose in my ponds at work last year. It was small with some odd coloration. It was marked a lot like some of the whistling ducks we get, but it honked. Heard it personally. I searched and searched the web, but found nothing that came even close to it. If he shows up this year, it might be his last. he was a pretty bird, and would probably make a neat mount. The bill was sort of a pinkish color, almost like a black belly whistling duck.
