Everybody decided either
a) they werent going to go with me
-or-

b) they werent going to go at all

SO I went bymyself down to a spot like 3 minutes from my house on the river. About 30 yards across the river, and the deepest stot across the whole thing was about 2 inches over the top of my knees. I didnt have a dog, but I had my waders on.
Got there about 1/2 hour before shooting time, heard some guys and a dog down river. They are usually there, they are pretty cool guys.

About 8:00, They start blasting away, I watch carefully. Nothing.

10 minutes later, more blasting, then a groupp of about 10 flies my way, way to high to get. After they pass, a lone mallard drake, 10 feet off the water, coming right up the river. Coulndt have asked for a better shot. And I actually got him too.

About 8:30, another mallard dropped from right over my head, and he was gone before I realized what happend.

Thats it. Usually when Im down there I see or at least hear some geese, but I didnt today.

Not as good as REV, but good all the same smile.gif

BBBDD, Good deal, we are still weeks away here but I've caught myself daydreaming about whistling wings a little lately (between visions of big bucks). smile.gif

Got kicked off the darn internet, hate when that happens. I went out this last weekend for the opener of our Late Zone. We have all kinds of GW Teal down here. Was able to shoot my limit and a buddy got his also. Not very many big ducks here yet. Seeing a few geese around. Looks like this year should be much better then last year was. The cold weather up North seems to be pushing the birds this way. We also have had lots of rain the last 2 weeks. It has filled up all the ponds and low spots with some water. Hopefully it will be good for everyone this year.
