I had the best duck shoot yet this year this afternoon. My uncle invited me to come along to this field he has permission to hunt. The field is flooded in several spots. He said there was around 2,000-3,000 ducks in it. I didn't believe him until I went out there. They may have been more than that. We couldn't hunt the flooded hole where we wanted to because they were all ready in it. So we went to another flooded spot on the opposite end and shot singles and doubles as they broke off from the big flocks feeding. We shot our 6 mallards in about 2 hours. The ones that came in came in on a string. If it doesn't freeze too bad we will be back out there Saturday. Even if it does I will break ice :D We were hunting in SW Ohio.

I had my best hunt yesterday too. We killed 8 mallards by 8:30 and quit for the day. One of the birds I killed was wearin jewelry. My first banded bird - Jack Miner Foundation #99427 01 band inscribed "Fear God and Give Him Praise" Rev. 14-7 - Banded November 8, 2001 along with 474 other ducks at Kingsville Ont. Canada

Well boys after that hunt we had a deep freeze and the birds left that field once the water froze. It has been in the single digits here in Ohio for the past month and the ducks left once the field froze up. Oh well, atleast we got one good shoot out of there. The owner said we were welcome back next year, so we'll wait and hit them again now that we know what that field does.
