Just wondered. I grew up hunting grouse and woodcock in Michigan. Living here on the plains makes grouse hunting a bit harder, but I've been able to get over to the woods country once in a while the last couple years.

I don't get out very often, though, because grouse season and duck season are pretty much the same time.

I haven't pheasant, quail, or prairie chicken hunted since we lived in Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska. We've got some pheasants here in Minnesota, but I got spoiled by the hunting in Kansas and Nebraska, particularly. Don't have a pointing dog anymore (had a Brittany at that time) and that was 3/4 of the fun of hunting upland game, for me.

I get after the grouse. I have english setters and you're right that is what it's all about. I usually make 1 trip to MI or MN, but mostly hunt eastern KY. I flushed lot's of birds last year... averaged 3/hour, which is high for KY, that of course is a slow day in MI.

Hey, CSS...if you get to MN this year, let me know. Might be able to snap a cap or two with you!

I'm in Moorhead, on the ND border. If you hunt in the Park Rapids/Detroit Lakes area or Brainerd, etc., I'm in driving distance!
