View Full Version : It May not be the newest gun but it sure shoots!!!
Iam talking about a 42 year old 270 WinchesterModle 70 Feather Light that is a absolute shooter. I can hit a group about the size of a silver dollar at 100 yards wich is plenty good.I dont really really care that it isnt fancy plus it was my grandpas so Iam only only going to hunt with it a few more years than put it up but I sure love it.

I'd bet GrandPa loved it to and wouldn't have thought about puttin it up. Continue to love it and use it, just take care of it like it was still GrandPa's. Those Winchester 70s are great guns. My Rem. 700 BDL in .270 is only 23 but hey, I'm only a year older than your rifle. I hope mine ends up in the hands of a Grandson someday and he has as much fun and success with it as I have. My eight year old is waiting to step up to it from his Rem. .260 (we might have to trade when he gets bigger and I get older). Good Huntin! smile.gif

Those old Winchesters were great guns. I wouldn't put her in the gun case anytime soon. Enjoy it! I have a model 700 Remington that is almost a part of my body. I wouldn't part with it for anything. Maybe one day my boy or his children will get to use it.

I know what it means to use a gun that was handed down by your grandpa. I have one too and use it occassionally, although not much. It's a Model 1891 7.65mm Argentine Mauser. It's old as heck, but it's in great shape and still shoots pretty good.
I gues my papa has killed huge mule deer when he used it then dad used it and now Iam using it and its pretty fun and Iam 13 so I got along time to use it
