This is a post, not about hunting, but plinking. 22's often the best, for cheap ammo.

When my friends and I get together to shoot, we like to get things that are fun to shoot, that blow up or send pieces everywhere.

Does anybody else do this?? IT is a great stress reliever (:mad smile.gif and its just fun blowing stuff up and not getting in trouble for it.

For us, we fill milk jugs up with water and freeze them. It works great for 22s, continually chipping away at them with multiple shots, or with one giant explosion with the 30-06. :D

Also pop cans and rotten apples.

What is everybody else blowing up??

AJ.

PS- Exploding targets are good to, just expensive.

unfortunately cans, bottles, and milk jugs are messy to pick up.

I neat target for practice with a .22 or even a 410 shotgun is ritz crackers or nilla wafers.

Seriously--they explodelike clay targets and are totally biodegradeable. We made a mini hand thrower for ritz's, try to hit one of them with a 410 or 22 shotshell. + they are just about the size of a squirrel's or rabbits head--try to shoot on at 30-50 yards with a scoped .22--it will get you ready for hunting season.

Where we shoot at, all the mess is in a small area, we usually just take a rake and scoop it all up. Its really not hard, and we can leave the apples and ice lay.

But Nilla Wafers does sound like a good load of fun as long as we can refrain from eating them long enough to shoot. :D

some of the neatest targets or things to shoot at i have seen are made of plaster of paris. Hobby stores have moldes for just about any thing you can dream of. One fellow shooter has his kids making plaster targets all winter long and they have a riot doing it. Come summer they have boxes of things to shoot. They make a big dust cloude when hit with any bullet.

Ahhh yes the wanton destruction of inanimate objects with firearms, hehe. :D
Oh yes I know that game well,The land we camp on In the summer and fall is planted with tomatoes and bell peppers, wich make dandy targets, wether with pistols or with my .270 at about 100 yards.
Milk jugs, cans, and pepsi bottles full of water are loads of fun especially for new or first time shooters, the visual effect is awesome.
But the most fun targets are old worn out washers, dryers, ovens, refridgerators and other major household appliances with all the good stuff removed like wiring, tubing, freon cans and motors, etc. that are being taken to the recycling center.
We like to open the doors of the fridges and see who can blow the doors off the hinges,or paint smileys on them. smile.gif
we usually use a broad range of weapons from.22's,.9mm,.45,.270,.30-30,.30.06,and .12guage slugs and buskshot.
